The Dr. Althea Gentle Retinol Serum stimulates the skin’s natural cell renewal process, improving texture, minimizing pores, preventing inflammation, and enhancing firmness and elasticity.
It evens out dull skin tone, gently brightens pigmentation, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and slows down visible signs of aging — leaving the skin smooth, radiant, and refreshed.
Formulated with retinol and bakuchiol, this serum offers gentle yet effective results, making it ideal for beginners in retinoid care. Its lightweight gel texture absorbs quickly without stickiness, and the airless pump bottle protects the formula from oxidation to maintain potency.
Contains 0.1% retinol (1000 ppm) — a form of vitamin A that promotes cell turnover, normalizes sebum production, and prevents oily shine and comedones. Retinol also stimulates collagen and hyaluronic acid synthesis, smoothing fine lines and refining pores. To reduce irritation, the formula includes bakuchiol, a plant-based retinol stabilizer that enhances its effect.
Additional key ingredients:
- Bakuchiol — a plant-derived retinol alternative that smooths and refines the skin without causing irritation; suitable for sensitive skin.
- Panthenol (vitamin B5) — accelerates healing, soothes irritation, and strengthens the skin barrier.
- Birch sap — rich in vitamins, minerals, and organic acids; tones and softens the skin.
- Soybean oil — has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties; restores the skin’s moisture barrier and protects against UV damage.
- Blue Complex-HR — a botanical blend of hyacinth, cornflower, lavender, sage, chamomile, and borage extracts; soothes, softens, and provides antioxidant protection.
Suitable for: all skin types.
Precautions: do not use together with peels, scrubs, or products containing AHA, BHA, PHA, or high concentrations of vitamin C. Avoid during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and after cosmetic procedures. If new to retinol, start with twice a week for 2 weeks, then gradually increase frequency.
